“Practical aspects of civic participation for communities and citizens”

Involved mtü invites you to participate in its international event called “The practical aspect of civic participation for communities” (tools of initiative and participation from bottom, possibilities to participate for communities, impact of communities to EU politics and crisis solutions).

5 participants from the following participant countries are going to be present the international event:  Lithuania, Latvia, Poland, Germany, France, Spain, Romania.

The event will be opened by INVOlVED MTÜ being followed by the presentations of local organisations relevant in the field of civic participation such as MONDO MTÜ , Vabatahtlike Värav and Let’s Do It Foundation amongst others, and workshops are part of the planned programme. STAY TUNED!

The Europe for Citizen project “Challenges for Europe – “Understand and Overcome Together” was launched in January 2017. The main idea of the project is provide citizens possibility to participate in events that will be designed to share best practices, different experiences and approaches on the main topics of the project and to gain a better understanding of all scope of arguments and their own role in overcoming nowadays crisis. 6 conferences for participants from 6 countries will be organized in the topics concerning modern European challenges.

Project is coordinated by Sveikatingumo idėjos (Liathuania) and five partner organizations – “Involved MTÜ” (Estonia), Asociacion Cazalla-Intercultural (Spain), Kekavas novada Jaunatnes iniciativu centrs  (Latvia), Association Connexion Roumanie  (France), Asociata Suportis For Better (Romania), Panstwowa Wyzsza Szkola Zawodowa im. prof. Edwarda F. Szczepan  (Poland).

The first conference „Crisis of Values“ was hold on 23-25 March in Hotel “Mercure Marijampole”, J. Basanavičius sq. 8, Marijampolė, Lithuania.

The conference was opened by Project Coordinator being folled by the presentations and workshops on Fundamental European values, Causes of Radicalism. Vytautas Keršanskas, policy analyst at Eastern Europe Studies Centre (EESC), lecturer at Kaunas University of Technology (KTU), Impact of Community growth and social innovations, Ieva Adomaitytė – Subačienė, Ceo Management Innovation Agency and Lecturer at Vilnius University, Relationship between economic groups and public movements Žilvinas Šilėnas, President, Lithuanian Free Market Institute.

Workshops: Participatory democracy. Representative democracy does not correspond to public expectations – how to change, how to proceed?, Economic integration. What does BREXIT case indicates? Card house syndrome. Will Europe be able to cope with challenges arising from its fundamental values?, European identity. Community and the organization as a counterweight to the States and international organizations, Radicalism and social movements. What does the left-right parties elevation indicates? How to explain growth of nationalist movements?

Project will provide citizens possibility to participate in 6 conferences that will be designed to share best practices, different experiences and approaches on the main topics of the project and to gain a better understanding of all scope of arguments and their own role in overcoming nowadays crisis.

The second conference „European and nation idendity“ was hold 15th – 17th of May 2017 at Ķekavas kultūras nams (Culture centre of Ķekava) located on Gaismas iela 17, Ķekava – Latvia.

The conference was opened by Project Coordinator being folled by the presentations and workshops on European and Nation Identity. The programme continue with experts in the field leading presentation and discussion followed by workshops as detailed below:

– Ansis Bogustovs, who conducted the session on “Family? Friends? Facebook or Politics? What defines your national European identity?”
– Sanda Brūna. From Ghetto Games Latvia conducted “Medicines for World’s Ghettos”
– Agnese Logina, a Curator of Riga Film Museum conducted “Experimental cinema and the art of moving image – platform for the search of the national identity in 20th and 21st century”
– Juris Cibuļs a Linguist from ABC-book collector conducted “People of the world, their languages and ABC-books”
– Arstarulsmirus Arsujumfus from Tarus. Music producer, trainer of personal growth conducted “Long term influence of music and lyrical content on society”
– Madara Ūlande, Director at Social Enterpreneurship Association of Latvia, who conducted
“Social + Business: The Unusual 21st century European Love Story”.
Workshops’ themes:

1.Garjānis (photographer, traveller, bow-tie maker, event host). “Finding my place under the Sun”. 2. Sveču darbnīca. “History of candles in world and in Europe – candles as a part of our creative thinking” 3. Inese Šubēvica (Youth policy expert, practitioner of non-formal education). “My European identity – what is it?” Interactive space for personal development, discussion. 4. Madara Ūlande (Executive director at Social Enterpreneurship Association of Latvia).  “Social + Business: All Hands on Deck”. Discussion space as a follow-up for Madara Ūlande’s presentation. 5. Brigita Stroda (Arts manager, crown maker, communicator through stories). “Who do you think you are and what kind of tools to use in answering the question?”

The third conference „Economic challenges “ was hold on 26-28 of July, 2017 at North University in Baia Mare, Romania

The conference was opened by Project Coordinator being folled by the presentations from different experts. Closure of the conference porgramme was finalising with the visits to local companies in Baia Mare.

Challenges for Europe – Understand and Overcome Together“ (4Europe)

Description of the project:

Main purpose of the project is to foster active citizenship and involvement in democratic processes of European Union sharing knowledge and understanding at the community level. Project activities will foster cooperation between towns, establish and support new cooperation between different civic organizations, encourage citizens to learn different approaches and experiences and create new ways for participating in dealing with challenges arising for European Union today such as refugee crisis, migration from lower economies, Euroscepticism, weakening of common values and solidarity, economic and political challenges. Project will provide citizens possibility to participate in events that will be designed to share best practices, different experiences and approaches on the main topics of the project and to gain a better understanding of all scope of arguments and their own role in overcoming nowadays crisis. 6 conferences for participants from 8 countries will be organized in the topics concerning modern European chalenges. The recommendations handbook with the best experiences and suggestions to local communities will be prepared and published in 9 languages creating the basis to understand the challenges for Europe and represent the tools for civic engagement. The short films created during the project will show stories of success, ways of participating, democracy experiences, different approaches to the problems, lessons of Europeans and things we can change participating more actively. The website of the project and its activities will be created and maintained to have a platform of representing the tools of participation in democracy and values in united Europe for everyone. This site will let to create and develop the network of organizations cooperating in this project and broaden this network on the same basis after project is finished.

  • ASOCIACION CAZALLA-INTERCULTURAL  – SPAIN local NGO located in Lorca, Murcia, in the South East of Spain, founded in 2007. Main activities of organization are structured in 4 main fields: Voluntary service; Capacity building; International cooperation in the field of youth.
  • Kekavas novada Jaunatnes iniciativu centrs – LATVIA  Kekava municipality Youth initiative center (JIC) is an municipality authority which was established to promote youth evolvement in public actions, in youth politics, in a volunteering, and in all kind of youth projects. Youth Center is a particularly important link between “passive” and “active” young people, it is a place where young people with different interests and life experiences are available for open, friendly and supportive environment.
  • Association Connexion Roumanie –  Connexion Roumanie, established in 2006, aims to share Romanian culture with a European audience, foster intercultural dialogue and promote active European citizenship.
  • ASOCIATIA SUPORTIS FOR BETTER  – ROMANIA we represent a partnership for action, at a local and international level, with the goal to create various opportunities for a harmonious development of young people and the communities they are part of.
  • Panstwowa Wyzsza Szkola Zawodowa im. prof. Edwarda F. Szczepan – POLAND  a Higher State Educational institution that has been operating in the community for 10 years. It is new and modern college with young and creative staff and smart and hard-working students willing to participate in various events and eager to acquire new skills.
  • INVOLVED MTÜ – ESTONIA non-governmental organization aiming at creating possibilities for life-long learning and fostering development of individuals and different targets on local and international level.
